Built For You – Etsy Custom Clothing in Every Trend Shape and Style

by Bobby

Some time ago I blogged about a local store here in Los Angeles “Made to Measure” and designer Melissa Masse. Melissa makes is an awesome designer that makes custom garments for in her designs which allows her line to be accessible to all women. After I blogged about her it left me wanting more for my clients. I understand that many major fashion houses are starting to offer a larger size range and it is allowing them to reach a broader audience and give high fashion and daily trends to the masses. The thing is I think the indie designers are beating the large fashion houses to the punch. With many of the indie designers offering sometimes custom sizes, made to order items or at the at least sizes ranging in 0 to 24 they are breaking the mold. Sifting through the designers you also find they are taking tired designs and creating something of quality, exciting and cutting edge. I have lusted after a few of these designers on Etsy and wanted to share a few with you. I also think it is incredible the prices you can pay these days for a tailored piece of clothing. These smaller brands are making many re-thing the way they shop and the value of a fine tailored goods for made for you.

These two items are from Eva’s custom design. Her style is kind of all over the map. It goes from Boho chic to highly structured. I am drawn to her heavier fabric pieces with a bit more structure

First of all I am in amazement that this jacket is cashmere. I love, love, love the clean lines and the simple one button. The rounded torso will instantly slim the body. The lines are so chic and fashion forward. The color is not garish or to bold and far as reds go.

This dress is prefect for winter or autumn if you select your color correctly. They beauty of custom clothing is you get to work with designer and choose from the fabrics they have on hand. The length, empire waist and semi scoop neck lends itself to a slightly flirty design.

This is one of my favorite sellers / designers Heart My Closet. The style is nod to Mad Men and all things sexy and women’s curves.

This sexy flutter sleeve dress has a fishtail back and optional open or closed buttons in a line down back. I like that you can wear the dress to the office and out to dinner.

The plaid dress I think is more of the same. The dress is appropriate for work and transitions well into evening. The wrap neck line is an interesting twist on this classic look. The belt is a fabulous idea, you can change it out and add a wider or skinny option depending upon the desired look you are trying to achieve.

Pants seem to be a bit more expensive when it comes to the custom market but the styles are unique and lets not forget your pants will fit! Yippee for that. I tend to lean more toward jeans, leggings, pencil cut or skinny jeans. I wanted to show something a bit more innovative. After all these designers have a lot of talent and my options are easy to find for the curvy woman, something truly unique and cutting edge is rare .

This set of trousers are from yystudio , a designer out of the UK. The style is a bit flouncy and big. The designs remind me of European designers for children only they have taken the designs and added a cold edge to it which makes it some how okay for an adult to wear. These wool blended high-waisted long trousers will be slimming through the hips and waist. I like the cut at the bottom of the pants as well. The pants are not skinny nor do they fall into a regular bottom break. They pants have a side slit which allows for all the room you need. The detail is very clever.

Forties Frocks makes a few tailor slacks I find interesting and I had to include a sailor type pant.

The hard with the soft element is very seductive. Wide leg pans are flattering on all shapes. I’m fond of the color on this particular pair. Instead of using navy the pants are grey. The designer also offers olive-green and red. The styling is not the best in this picture but the pants work well in for a variety of outfits.

I have a love of corsets. In my opinion an authentic canvas corset or a simple grosgrain corset underneath a blazer or on top of an impeccably tailored blouse and pants is completely chic. The problem is finding a proper fitting corset and finding a quality corset. Frederick’s of Hollywood is not the place to go when you’re looking for that custom fit and timeless beauty. I am enamored with Jill’s corsets. She has been on Etsy of a few years now and has been a strong seller and solid name in the business for a the last couple of years now as well.

This riding corset is a clear example of a clean shirt and tailored pants. I would recommend a shirt with a bit more fit. however I like this idea and this corset style. I also like the feminine lines this style creates.

The pin-up corset is outright sexy. I would be happy to own on of these!

Sand Maiden makes great sweaters that offer structure, warmth and unique styles

Instead of a boring wrap that never fits quite right and ends up in the giveaway pile, they offer a custom fit and change the way you wrap the sweater all together, simply genius
